Happy 100 days. Yes, it has been 100 days since I came to the Kingdom. Nothing much has happen, as usual, you have to work your butt out to meet deadlines. Other than that, life is pretty much the same. Some of my Malaysian colleagues are preparing for the Hajj pilgrimage; others are getting ready to go back to their hometown for the Eid Holiday. I’m going to be in town during holiday. Yes, I love very much to fly back home, but ...well, I’m still in my probationary period, so I’m not eligible for my annual leave yet. What a pity!
As my probationary period will end soon, I’m now starting preparing my application to bring my family to the Kingdom. I reckon I can get all the necessary approval by end of January 2009 and my family can be here by mid February 2009. That is a very optimistic assumption. I’m hoping all things will go smooth and no hiccup. As long as the application requirements are in order, I’m almost home.
Dealing with the Saudis can be quite a challenge, be it a bank, government office or even my company own HR office. There are no clear set of rules or procedures that you can adhere to. The general rule is to keep your cool and never lose your patience. Yes, it will take longer than your patience can handle but that is just how things are done around here.
